There are several types such as:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Academic<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Observed<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Interviews<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Data<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In practice, many case studies will involve elements of all of these but let&#8217;s look at them separately.<\/span><\/p><h2>Academic<\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you would like your product to be evaluated in a manner that looks objective and scientific then you could team up with a university or college department and work with them to have your product put through its paces as a research project.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The main advantage of this is that it will be, or at least appear to be, more objective than if you did it all in-house.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Moreover, you should end up with some useful comparisons such as the benefits to a school using your product compared to one not using it, or a before and after comparison.<\/span><\/p><h2><strong>Observed<\/strong><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is where someone visits a school or class where your product is being used and takes notes about what they see going on.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example, are the kids engaged, does the teacher have more information about each pupil at her fingertips, and so on.<\/span><\/p><h2><strong>Interviews<\/strong><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A more interesting version of the observed case study is one in which parents, teachers and, of course, pupils are interviewed to find out what they like and dislike about the product (that is, how they think it could be improved).<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You won\u2019t want to include the dislikes in the published case study but the information would no doubt prove useful for discussing improvements.<\/span><\/p><h2><strong>Data<\/strong><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This type of case study involves analysing data and would not necessarily involve setting foot in the school.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The idea is to see how your product affected key performance indicators.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example, has punctuality improved since the product was put in place? Has absenteeism declined?<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clearly, all or most of these elements could be included in any case study, so it\u2019s really a question of emphasis, and time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><h2><strong>Should case studies be a stand-alone documents or part of a larger whole?<\/strong><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stand-alone case studies are very useful from the point of view that they could all be available on your website.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Potential buyers should be able to find one that sounds relevant to their needs, such as \u201cInner City comprehensive, 1500 on roll, 29% FSM etc\u201d.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alternatively, you might include short case studies, or vignettes, as part of a longer document such as a product brochure or white paper.<\/span><\/p><p><strong>This is the sort of thing the Department for Education does.<\/strong><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example, in a document about assessment, there will be \u201cbox-outs\u201d or special pages with text like \u201cFred Bloggs Academy decided to introduce coloured badges in Year7\u2026\u201d.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The main advantages of this approach are that your product will be placed in a wider context, with several case studies highlighting different aspects of the product and how it is being used.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The disadvantage, of course, is that each case study will have to be quite short, and little more than a snapshot if the document is not to take on <em>War and Peace<\/em> proportions.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you feel inclined to develop some case studies, be sure to read these <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/beedigital.marketing\/how-to-create-powerful-case-studies-that-fatten-your-sales-pipeline\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">essential tips on how to create case studies to fatten your pipeline<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Do your case studies say: \u201cThis is what our product is like in practice.\u201d Learn more about the different types of marketing case studies&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":27,"featured_media":7102,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"inline_featured_image":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[155],"tags":[407,410,167,404,113,17,26,56,20,59,62,47,65,68,71,29],"class_list":["post-5323","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-marketing-to-schools-strategies","tag-case-studies","tag-case-study","tag-communications","tag-communications-strategy","tag-customer-service","tag-edtech","tag-education","tag-learning","tag-marketing","tag-marketing-strategy","tag-marketing-trends","tag-product","tag-sales","tag-schools","tag-strategy","tag-technology"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v23.0 -
